Director Nikhil Advani has brought to us a film that is based on the controversial encounter of 2008 taking place in Delhi. The movie reveals the entire story about the case after eleven years giving answers to the long awaited question about the encounter; was it a cover-up or a real win for the Delhi police? Batla House is a movie about a dedicated policeman of the Delhi police and a patriot but especially a husband. The incident took place on 19th September 2008 at the Batla house locality in Jamia Nagar, Delhi in which two terrorists, Atif Ameen and Mohammad Sajid were killed the other two, Zeeshan and Mohammad Saif were taken into custody while Ariz Khan managed to escape.
The cast for the film included John Abraham as DCP Sanjeev Kumar Yadav, the chief officer responsible for the case, Mrunal Thakur as Nandita Yadav (Sanjeev’s wife), Ravi Kisan as KK, Sonam Arora as KK’s wife, Manish Chaudhari as Police Commissioner Jaivir, Rajesh Sharma as TV journalist, Sahidur Rehman as Dilshad Ahmed, Kranti Prakash Jha as Adil Ameen, Alok Panday as Tufail, Faizan Khan as Mohammad Javed, Niranjan Jadhao as Sadiq, Chirag Katrecha as Zia, Yatharth Kansal as an Arif and Nora Fatehi (special appearance in song ‘O Saki Saki’).
The movie revolves around the struggle of a decorated police officer who keeps the investigation of the Batla House case open even after being awarded a medal for his services, to unravel the truth from the controversy. With the release clash of the movie with ‘Mission Mangal’ starring Akshay Kumar and other female leads of bollywood like Sonakshi Sinha, Vidhya Balan, Taapsee Pannu and Kirti Kulhari, the fan base of such patriotic movies provide for a weekend box office collection of about 14.59 crores for Day 1 and about 4.0 crores for Day 2.
