Chicken Curry Law is the story of Maya Johnson (Natalie Janoszek), a foreign national who came to India to build her career but is violated by Makhiya (Ganesh Pal) and his accomplice Nana. Maya is found by social activist Satya Deshmukh (Nivedita Bhattacharya) who rescues her and takes her to Lawyer Sitapati Shukla (Ashutosh Rana) to fight her case. What happens in the courtroom, shows the ugly face of justice with all the victim blaming, use of political influences to get away with anything and everything and a whole lot of drama. The movie includes other cast members; Makrand Deshpande as Mutthu Swamy, Zakir Hussain as Sharad Joshi and Aman Verma as Chagan Patil.
Directed by Shekhar Sirrinn, this 127 minute lond drama/ dark comedy has all the elements to lure the audience and has a way of presenting the present condition of cases similar to the film. The movie is loosely based on the epic novel Mahabharta with the focus of the story on Duryodhan and his misdeeds to Draupadi. The story highlights how fragile the justice system is in our country and how easily the laws meant to protect us can also be misused against us. The movie is a hard-hitting social drama that brings two powerful actors, Ashutosh Rana and Makrand Deshpande, face-to-face in a battle to serve justice to an innocent girl. It also shatters the stereotypical thought process of people about foreign women in India and underlines our cultural heritage of Atithi Devo Bhava.
The music of the film is composed by Shekhar Sirrinn himself while the tracks are written conjointly by Shekhar Sirrinn, Shabbir Ahmed and Rajesh Manthan. These soundtracks include Mera Sufi Ishq, Ya Khudara Maaf Kar, Aye Zindagi and Isey Naam Doon Kya.
